After some discussion of his past systems, the desired sound and what we were allowed to modify, we decided to install a 3-way component set into each door of the X5. This vehicle only has a location for a 4” and tweeter in the front and rear doors, so the door had to be modified to house the new 6” driver. Once we had a plan we started listening to some sets and decided on the Focal K2P 4” component set with the K2P add-on 6” midbass kit for each door. The 4” midrange and tweeter were a simple speaker swap with the fabrication of an adapter plate for the top of each 4” to convert it to a 3-hole mount instead of the four mounting holes on the new speaker. Once that was figured out we stripped and disassembled the doors to start the fabrication of the new midbass mount.
